History: (Why / how were they rescued?)

Harley was rescued with his mother, Pandora, together in october 2016. Pandora being an adorable buckskin QH mare, was bred to another buckskin stallion after she had difficulty turning barrels (which has since been addressed as last of chiropractic work.) Once Harley was born, he and pandora were both then neglected due to his lack of “color” (AKA, if two buckskin horses are bred & the foal is not a “pretty” buckskin or other color, he is not as “pretty” & is unwanted).  TRBER rescued both of them from very poor conditions of starvation, neglect & unhealthy pasture conditions. Note, at the time when TRBER left to pick up Pandora, we did not know Harley had not been weaned yet nor of the extent of the conditions they were in.

Therapy Needed before starting our riding program:

Obviously due to his age, he is not anywhere near under saddle. When Harley arrived he had not been weaned or had human contact (and was also very wormy & starving) but since then has been weaned, haltered, wormed, blanketed, & handled daily. Harley LOVES scratches, hugs and pretty much any form of contact! Due to his lack of nutrition as a foal, he does appear to have some body issues such as his hooves not growing the same pace as his body & his joints are “normal” for a foal his age whereas his body size has not caught up with him. He has been on supplements to hopefully get ahead of his growth issues.

Progress they have made:

Harley currently leads, halters, blankets, PARTIALLY ties, grooms and is working to have his feet handleable. He is a wonderful colt so far & is a complete sweetheart through everything he is faced with.

Current riding level:

N/A

Brief summary about this horse as we have come to know them:

Harley LOVES his scratches & daily dose of affection from staff & volunteers at TRBER! He is gaining bravery about the world around him everyday & always greets people with a friendly yell (Or maybe just wants more scratches!) and can sometimes get excited when walking toward the barn for dinnertime but is always willing to walk quietly once reminded about his developing manners.
